ABOUT Miami Beach

Miami Beach has long been one of America’s preeminent beach resorts for nearly a century. Today it is a heart-throbbing blend of entertainment and cultures, white sandy beaches, unlimited dining and is “the place to be” for wealthy playboys and pretty celebrities. The beach itself is as much of a draw as the entertainment. Beautiful long stretches of white sand beckon sun lovers and activity seekers. You’re bound to see sexy women rollerblading in bikinis, volleyball and kite surfers, and abundant activities on this thriving long stretch of beach. A drive up A1A will afford beautiful views of luxurious million-dollar mansions, like the home of Gianni Versace before he was murdered.

Miami and Miami Beach are two separate cities. As the last large city at the southeastern tip of the east coast, the area lures millions of vacationers with its warm tropical climate and sandy shores of its tropical coast. The TV show Miami Vice helped make the area from 1 st to 25 th street popular and is now considered one of the richest commercial areas on the beach. Driving through South Beach, the buildings still have a certain disco feeling of the 70’s. In 1979, Miami Beach’s Art Deco Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Ocean Drive features the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world and comprises hundreds of hotels, restaurants and other structures built between 1923 – 1943. Mediterranean-style, Streamline and Modern are all represented by the structures near the beach.
